My name is Jean Liu, and I am a Canadian science communicator based in London, United Kingdom. I have a background in neuroscience and pharmacology, and received scientific training at Carleton University (B.Sc. Hons Neuroscience, 2010) and Dalhousie University (M.Sc. Pharmacology and Neuroscience, 2012). I currently work as the data curator and blog editor Altmetric, and write for the Altmetric blog. However, all views on this site are my own.
As a graduate student in Halifax, Nova Scotia, I discovered my twin passions: pain research and science communication. Unwilling to pursue a “traditional” research career trajectory, I decided to craft my own path, and seek out different experiences based on my interests. In late August 2012, I bid farewell to Canada and moved to London, where I’m currently exploring new avenues in science and science communication. Read the backstory.
